Rapunzel
Our Beloved Community
The Brothers Grimm published the fairy tale, ‘Rapunzel’ in 1812. It was based on older versions of the tale (1). Because these tales often have layered meanings, we often simplify them for children (2).
As I reflected on the imagery of the children’s version that I had learned, I realized that if I but transposed the beginning and ending of the tale, it contained an insight into the journey we are invited to make from the first to the second half of life.
